Keep walking
The Organs of your body have their sensory touches at the bottom of your foot, if you massage these points you will find relief from aches and pains as you can see the heart is on the left foot.
Typically they are shown as points and arrows to show which organ it connects to.
It is indeed correct since the nerves connected to these organs terminate here.
God created our body so well that he thought of even this. He made us walk so that we will always be pressing these pressure points and thus keeping these organs activated at all times.

LAVANA THAILAM, SANTHOSH BRAHMI, DHAATRI, INDULEKHA, etc....
Hinduism - The Breeder Of World Religions? - All europeans were Hindu's (Vedic) at one point of time This article is just a Critical Analysis, and in no way a fool proof claim. I haven't been to the past, so I use Logic. Globally Accepted Facts Hinduism - Factually accepted to be the Oldest Religion Vedas - Factually accepted to be the Oldest Religious Script as well as the Oldest written Document (hence symbolising the most ancient literate society) Aryans (Aryas') - The common race from which Europeans and Indians (also Irani's) are known to have been derived. Aryan is derived from the Sanskrit word 'Arya' meaning 'A Noble Person'. Unfortunately a psycho German tainted the term, but 'Arya' was never a race, but a society of people with one belief. But yes Indian race is just a tanned version of the caucassian race (genetically proved). Proto-Indo-Europeans - The Aryans (Europeans and Indians) were known to be a single society at one distant point of time, which we cannot trace. Hence Philosophists call it Proto-Indo-European era. Proto-Indo-European - The common language from which Latin/Greek/Sanskrit were derived, and in turn from which the modern day Languages have been derived. English is a very close derivative of Sanskrit, as we will see. Aryan Invasion Theory - Max Muller, a British Linguist, bred a theory called the Aryan Invasion theory, after realising that the Language spoken in the Indian Subcontinent was very much similar to his. According to him, Aryans originated in eastern Europe/Central Asia (Southern Russian Steppes). A pack of them migrated south and formed the 'Vedic India'. (The theory is flawed, as we will see). Now I begin a quest into what the old civilization might have been like. Assuming Hinduism was formed after one segment of Aryans moved south into Northern India, we will be admitting that the initial Proto-Indo-European (PIE) society didn't have an organised religion. But however we see that the one of the very core English words, MAN, is derived from a Hindu mythology of a person called "Manu". In hindi we call "man" Manav and in Sanskrit, Manushya (Manu + Shishya = Followers of Manu). Hinduism existed in the PIE period It is known that the word "Manu" is synonymous with the Vedas. Manu, the saviour of mankind, is hailed throughout all the four Vedas. Hence either Vedas were written prior to emmigration, or somehow the word travelled north back to the Northern residents and got in popular use. The latter case is straight away impractical. Every european culture has the word "Manu" as the root of the word "Man" but none provide a legend behind it. Also, the word never travelled north, since the Aryan invasion theory is flawed, as we see later. Hence Vedas were written prior to seperation. Hence the PIE society did follow Hinduism or Vedic Culture to be precise. Indian's aren't Aryans migrated from the North http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A760240 Check that link, and look at the last Ice Age periods. Considering we still had 'Cold Snaps' till 3000BC, it's evident that the best place to inhibit (in Asia/Europe) was India for the past 20,000 years. Supporters of Aryan Invasion Theory claim that Veda's describe War with local inhabitants of India. Yes, true, and it also says that those local inhabitants (dursyaas) were eliminated in the battle. I agree that aryans did migrate into India from the North but they were the original tribal aryans that existed 15000 years back. 15000 years back man had just learned to cultivate crops and live a civilized life, form society and protect its existence. There may not even be a formal spoken language, let alone a written language or script. To explain that, suppose I have just learned to write and I sit down to write Indian History, I will write, "The greatest Indian King of all time was Ashoka, the sinner turned saint, the emperor who ruled from dawn to dusk (east to west)." Then I also go on to mention that the best modern day Prime Minister of India was "AB Vajpayee". What I miss is the time gap. There is a gap of 2300 years. Veda's describe everything in accurate detail, but fail to mention the Timeline. It seems everything is described in quick succession, but actually, a long span of time has been covered in "Past Tense". So when Historians analyse the Vedas, they are simply unable to decipher the time line codes. So what's the proof that Aryan's didnt come from north? The fact that not even a Single European land is mentioned in the Vedas. Ofcourse, that place was uninhabitable for a long period. Veda's never speak of comming down from the North. It just mentions the capturing of land around the River Saraswati and killing of Dursyas. I had a speak with an Archeologist and he supported the Timeline misguidance concept. The killing of Dursyas and settling around river saraswati was an ancient History, when man had just learnt the art cultivation and civilization. Flaw of the Aryan Invasion Theory Aryan Invasion Theory has been contradicted all together with the Discovery of the Ancient City of Dwarka which is submerged in the sea as of now (and as described in Mythology). The city dates to be as old as 7000 years. The Aryans were known to have arrived in India only by 3000-1500BC. So how come a city 7000 years old, located at the exact spot where the Sacred Hindu text, Mahabharata describes it to be, was found? And above all, unlike most discovered ancient cities, this one is Submerged in the sea, exactly as happened in Mahabharata. The Mahabharata very clearly states that the city sank in the sea after the death of Lord Krishna. Not only does this discovery INTENSIFY the truth factor behind Mahabharata, it converts the Mythology factor to History factor. The society described in Mahabharata was the PIE Society Yes, now this would be the major claim. From here, I would like you to research a bit on Mahabharata, and judge for yourself. Mahabharata describes a Very Very advanced society with modern infrastructure. Any person well versed with the literature, would deem it to be fictional, due to the sheer amount of advancement described. I believe that it was the PIE society that was described then. They spoke Sanskrit (what about Greek/Latin?), and believed in the Vedic Culture. Vedic culture was even more sophisticated than the present day Hinduism. Why was Sanskrit the PIE Language? Why not Greek or Latin? Study Sanskrit and you will know for yourself. It is the MOST ADVANCED AND MOST WELL DEFINED LANGUAGE OF THE WORLD. This is not a claim but a proven Fact. It is the ONE AND ONLY UNAMBIGUOUS GRAMMAR. If Artificial Intelligence in Natural Language Processing was developed, Sanskrit is the only Language that a computer would be able to understand without a single problem. Sanskrit is the OLDEST SPOKEN/WRITTEN LANGUAGE. The Devnagri script, in which Sanskrit is written, has this special property that when letters are made from hollow tubes with openings at the end, you pump air from any end, and the alphabet will make a sound as it does when spoken! Devnagri script is still in use in Hindi. And, like told before, there are certain words in Greek/Latin, which have no legend behind them, but have one in Sanskrit. How did the society break up? How were new cultures ever formed? The Vedas describe the cycle of evolution of life in four yugas (epochs/era) 1. Satya Yuga or Krita Yuga (Zero Vice, No one lies, every one is spiritual) 2. Treta Yuga (Vice is introduced, Ramayana happened in this Yuga) 3. Dvapara Yuga (Vice starts gaining popularity. Mahabharata was fought in this Yuga/era. With the end of Maharabharat, this Yuga ended.) 4. Kali Yuga (Vice at its height. Immorality everywhere, and evil will be at its such heights, that Lord Shiv - The destroyer, will himself take an incarnation and end the Yuga. After that the Satya yuga will prevail.) Now as mentioned, the Mahabharata ends, and so does the Dvapara Yuga. It's an interesting read of how Mahabharata ended. It ended with the final use of a weapon called "Brahmastra". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahmastra This weapon has been speculated to be a nuclear weapon. The way devastation has been explained, is synonymous only with a Nuclear Weapon. Also the practical detail cannot be pure fiction. Like the author says, it had power of 1000 suns, there was an incandescent column of smoke, when the bomb exploded, pottery broke miles away. Soldiers who had come in contact of radiation removed their protections and dived into water/river. Nails and hairs of soldiers fell. No one survived within a radius of many cities. There would be a famine for 12 years and mankind would end. Apart from that, if you google a bit, you will learn that there is sufficient evidence that Indus valley civilization was wiped out by a nuclear explosion. Hence my straight forward, simple and logical explanation of how societies divided, and everything was re-initiated from scratch. For those who would disagree saying that this much technology was not possible then, I say, where were we 500 years back? Horse drawn chariots and swords? When we talk of a span of 7000 years at the minimum, couldn't these 500 years have happened then? Also if you read about the Nine Unknown Men (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Unknown_Men) you will see, how the Sinner turned Saint (Ashoka), tried to prevent misuse of technology. I also suggest reading about the Ancient Indian Vimaans. The Indo-Europeans were indeed very much ahead in technology. Unique facts of Hinduism It's a very scientific religion, and has never debarred anyone from scientific research. India invented modern Mathematics (Decimal system, algebra etc). India has had the best medical science, acknowledged even today, Ayurveda. The science of Breathing, Yoga, is simply revolutionary. > Lord Krishna makes a very rare statement in the Gita: "Time is the seed of Universe" (If there is no time, there is no universe). Einstein loved that. > Moksha can be achieved by three (very logical) ways: By submitting yourself to God By Karma (Well doing for others) By gaining Knowledge (This one is rare.) > God is defined as 'Sarvagya' (The one who has unlimited knowledge) > Everything is made up of five elements. Earth Fire Water Air and Ether. The five elements are basically the five states of matter. Earth = Solid, Water = Liquid, Air = Gas, Fire = Plasma It is well evident that they put Ether = Empty space, also as a state of matter. And that is the most authentic part of it. By the statement of Lord Krishna, we know they knew about Space-Time. As we know today, anything that occupies space in Space-Time. is a form of matter. And hence so is Ether. This is an ad-on Lingual Similarities in English-Sanskrit These are just a few of thousands of such words. I will just list the core words of English and their Sanskrit/Hindi equivalents. English / Sanskrit -------- ---------- Mother / Maatru Father /Pitra/Pither (Papa comes from this) Brother /Bhraatu Name/ Naam I am/ Aham That /Tat is /Ah(uh) My/ mum (Hindi: mera) Young/ Yuv so /so (so is same in both english and hindi/sanskrit e.g. Jo karna hai so karo) Man/ Manav/Manushya Create/ Kriya/Crea (In englishe we add 'ate' to whatever we want to convert into noun-verb, like elongate, deviate etc) English has many vocubalary based words derived from languages like Latin/Greek, but the fact remains that the Core Words (the words learnt when you begin to grow) are from Sanskrit. Some vocubalary based words: Dexterity -Dakshta Progress -Pragati Existence- Astitva Exist -Asti Punch- Paanch/Punch (Punch is same in English and Sanskrit meaning 5) juggernaut- JagannAth (Hindi), literally, lord of the world (right)- Massive inexorable force, or an object that crushes whatever is in its path. Grammar based similarities: I read many, but can't remember a lot except the suffix 'ic'. It is absolutely same in Hindi, Sanskrit and English. In english we say Sporadic, Fantastic, Idiotic etc etc... Similarly in Sanskrit we say Prodyougic, Kaalpanic, Aarthic etc etc One word that emerges same from both the Languages (that I can remember) is Vedic. Its same in Sanskrit/Hindi and English.

|| Tantra and its Misconceptions: Reclaiming the Essence from the Illusions ||
:: The Allure of Tantra ::
Perhaps nothing is more exotic, dramatic and sensational in India’s Yoga traditions than is the practice of Tantra. No other approach to Yoga has gained such a fascination for the modern mind and its seeking of the bizarre, the entertaining and the enigmatic.
Tantra appears to offer both spiritual and worldly success to a superlative degree. It covers not only internal yogic experiences of chakras, lokas and deities, but also has many important healing practices for body and mind. Most notably, it offers special means of heightening sexual pleasure, making money, gaining recognition and defeating one’s enemies – with Tantric methods available for achieving all human desires. There is in Tantra something for everyone, especially those who may be put off by ascetic or renunciate approaches to the spiritual life such as seem to dominate most of the rest of the Yoga tradition.
Yet behind this allure of Tantra are very deep and profound teachings, including some of the most vibrant currents and detailed practices in the Yoga tradition of the last thousand years or more. Though Tantra has much to offer everyone, we must learn to be discriminating as to what is real versus what is superficial Tantra or one can easily fall into its distortions, which are many and much more visible.
:: Tantra and Wish-Fulfillment ::
Even in India, Tantrics are often portrayed as great magicians with special powers to overcome difficulties and fulfill our desires, using gems, mantras, yantras and pujas to get the Gods on our side and remove negative forces and bad karmas that get in the way of our happiness. Such Tantrics may use well-defined systems of knowledge, particularly Vedic astrology but also Yoga and Ayurveda and be quite adept in their practices. But often their claim is more personal, relative to their own special powers or siddhis and connections with deities, gurus or even ghosts that can work for us in mysterious ways that circumvent any outer limitations we may be facing.
Some Tantric gurus are considered to be so powerful that their touch or glance alone can grant whatever we wish. They offer us quick and miraculous means to accomplish what our own efforts, karma and destiny appear to deny us. Naturally, this Tantric guru image can be easily exploited. Such gurus can charge a lot for or demand our personal loyalty and devotion in various ways. Many Indian politicians have routinely employed such Tantrics, hoping to use their powers to win elections and defeat their enemies. This magical form of Tantra makes for entertaining stories and good novels, giving it an additional glamour and grounds for exaggeration.
Even genuine gurus may be looked upon with such a vision as being able to grant our desires, though they may not project any magical Tantric image themselves, so much is the human wish for Divine intervention to make our lives better and to have them conform more with what we would like them to be.
This fascination with Tantra is nothing new in human cultures. Tantra is another version of the same old attraction to magic, the occult and ritual that we find to some degree in all cultures and was very prominent in the ancient world everywhere. Ancient Vedic rituals, much like modern Tantric rituals, can similarly be employed for all the goals of human life from kama or enjoyment, to victory in battle, to moksha or liberation.
Looking to God – whether in the formless sense, or in the form of various Gods and Goddesses, or saints and gurus – to fulfill our human desires is one of the first and most common ways of human religious seeking. The undeveloped human ego will naturally first approach God with its own needs, rather than for any real seeking of knowledge or devotion. Tantra provides one of the most elaborate ways of doing this and recognizes its value as a first step in getting people onto the spiritual path. Chanting mantras in order to increase our prosperity or find a good partner or any other such personal goal is part of that approach. There is nothing wrong with such practices, but they don’t represent the higher aspects of Tantra or Yoga.
:: Kundalini and the Chakras ::
Other aspects of Tantra have come to the West and can be found in modern India as well, but not without distortions either. The chakras are a common New Age topic, though these are often portrayed quite differently than in classical Yoga. The chakras, which are originally energy centers in the subtle body, are often reduced to a physical formula. They are not looked upon so much as centers of spiritual experience but as places of physical and emotional healing. Such chakra healing is common in many New Age approaches, including various forms of massage, body work, energy work and pranic healing. While these practices may have their health benefits, they do not unfold the deeper aspects of chakra energy in Yoga practice, which require intense sadhana, mantra, pranayama and meditation.
Meanwhile, Kundalini is generally reduced to some form of sexual energy, leading to strange emotional states and experiences. Or it is looked upon as some mere natural force to be used in a technological way. Its true nature as the power of consciousness is often overlooked.
This combination of New Age fantasies from the West and an innate Indian need for the magical Yogi has created much room for illusion and distortion, if not manipulation and deception. It causes us to miss the fact that Tantra in the broader sense is a deep, profound, highly spiritual and very aesthetic way of understanding the conscious universe in which we live. Real Tantra often gets buried under these glittering allures and exaggerated claims.
:: Broader Aspects of Tantra ::
Apart from these distortions, we must recognize that Tantra is a complex tradition, with many sides and facets going beyond and even contrary to these popular fantasies. Tantra is interwoven with the spiritual teachings of India and beyond, going back far into ancient history. The popular understanding of Tantra represents only a small part of a vast system of knowledge.
We could compare the state of Tantra with that of Yoga, with which it is related. Like Tantra, the physical side of Yoga is emphasized - the practice of yogic postures or asanas - even though these represent a small part of classical Yoga, whose main concern is meditation. We live in a materialistic and media age in which spiritual traditions are recast or scaled down into a physical and sensationalistic model. This may popularize but it easily diminishes and distorts.
Such a sensate image of Tantra may cause some people to want to reject anything Tantric altogether. Certain spiritual groups East and West like to avoid Tantra for this reason. This is a mistake of another kind because it causes them to overlook the positive aspects of Tantra, its wealth of knowledge and practices about all the subtle aspects of Yoga, the worship of deities and how to harmonize actions in the human realm with the Divine worlds above.
The real question then is how to separate the deeper and higher aspects of Tantra from the outer and superficial views. Tantra is a precise system of knowledge that provides specific results and much inner transformation if employed correctly. The application of mantras, rituals, pranayama and meditation in Tantric teachings is probably the most elaborate and complete in the entire Yoga tradition. Tantra also shows us how to employ such systems as Vedic astrology, Vastu and Ayurveda for deeper levels of protection and healing, as well as to promote a higher awareness.
:: Tantra, Mantra and Yantra ::
It is in Tantra that we find the most detailed explication of the power of mantra, with every syllable of the Sanskrit alphabet precisely defined. It is the bija mantras of Tantra, the Shakti mantras like Hrim and Shrim, which are the most powerful of all mantras. Tantra similarly provides the greatest explanation of the use of yantras or geometrical meditation devices that are important tools of concentration and meditation. For example, the worship of Sri Chakra and Sri Yantra, probably the most important and detailed of all the Yoga teachings, is the most important Tantric teaching. The entire universe and the subtle body are present in the Sri Chakra. Its worship integrates the individual with all existence.
Tantra is a good tool for helping people of all traditions reclaim the worship of the Goddess and restore appropriate forms for her worship. As Christianity developed it rejected and condemned the common pagan worship of the Goddess that had long existed in the West. Western Tantra has added many other forms of Goddess worship in Pagan traditions from the Celts to the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians and Babylonians. Yet in these traditions forms of worship, both external and internal, have largely been lost. Hindu Tantra helps restore these methods of worship through its understanding of ritual, meditation and iconography.
Tantra offers such a wealth of images as the Dasha Mahavidya or Ten Wisdom Forms of the Goddess, and the many forms of Kali and Durga. Tantra provides the most detailed information on the visualization of such deities, their forms, ornaments and weapons and how to use them. Tantra contains an important tradition of sacred art, with a deep understanding of symbolism and precise rules of depiction. Tantra preserves the great festivals of the Goddess like Navaratri and Durga Puja. Tantric sacred sites from Kamakhya in Assam to Kamakshi in Tamil Nadu preserve not only a tradition of Goddess worship but a living connection with the Goddess in nature.
:: Historical Impact of Tantra ::
Tantra is perhaps the main current in Indian spirituality of the last thousand years or more and helps us understand its entire movement. Most of modern Hinduism and even much of Buddhism and Jainism is Tantric. There is a strong Tantric element to the Sikh Dharma, if one looks deeply. Tibetan Buddhism is largely a Tantric form, taken up from Indian Tantrics in Bengal and Bihar. Such a Buddhism of mantras, mandalas, deities, yoga and meditation is much closer to Hindu Tantric and Vedic disciplines than it is to the older Buddhism of Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Traditional Tantra has a strong ascetic and monastic form, though it has its householder tradition as well. Special Tantric worship of different forms of the Goddess go on in the major Shankaracharya Maths in India, using powerful mantras, yantras and rituals. Shankara himself was not only the most famous Advaitic teacher but also one of the most important Tantric teachers. His great poem to the Goddess, Saundarya Lahiri, remains perhaps the most important Tantric text that is used for Sri Chakra worship.
South Indian Agamic temple worship is Tantric in this broader sense. The entire Shakta tradition or worship of the Goddess in India is Tantric. Most of Shaivism is Tantric. Yet even Tantric elements are there in Vaishnava and other traditions.
Tantric teachings have been important for most of the main gurus of modern India since Ramakrishna and Vivekananda, including Aurobindo, Shivananda, Anandamayi Ma and many others. Ganapati Muni, the chief disciple of Ramana Maharshi, was another great Tantric Yogi. Yet this tradition is even older. The main Yoga gurus over the past thousand years or more have been mainly Nath Yogis, who are Tantric Shaivites, starting with Goraknath and Matsyendra Nath. Such Nath Yogis were the founders of the Hatha Yoga tradition as well as many important approaches to Tantra. Nath Yogis were honored by Shankara, Jnanadeva, Abhinavagupta, and many other great Hindu teachers of the medieval period. Even the teachings of modern Yoga guru, Krishnamacharya, are attributed to tradition stated by one Natha Muni. This means that without understanding real Tantra it is hard to understand Yoga.
In fact, the best way to understand real Tantra is as an expanded form of Raja Yoga. Like the Yoga Sutras and in more detail Tantra teaches asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi, but providing many more specific forms and techniques. It gives the details on mantras and methods that are only alluded to in the Sutras.
We can also explain real Tantra as a yogic approach to science and art. In this regard, there is a cross over between Vedic and Tantric sciences in such disciplines as Ayurveda, Jyotish and Vastu. Tantra is the basis of the Rasa Shastra or alchemical side of Ayurveda and much of Ayurveda’s psychological treatments. Tantra uses the rules of Jyotish for determining favorable times for ritual, pujas and so on. Tantric architecture and temple building develops from Vastu. In fact, it is in Tantra, contrary to modern academicians who fail to see the obvious connection, that we find the most detailed applications of Vedic teachings of ritual, mantra, yajna, puja and meditation.
So whether we like it or not, Tantra is and will remain a dominant force not only in Indian but in world spirituality. While we can recognize the place of popular and New Age forms of Tantra as a point of entry into these teachings, it is important to recognize the broader and deeper scope of real Tantra which is more than these and may be quite different from them. Tantra is the practical and energetic application of all the yogic wisdom of life, time, space and energy. If you approach it with the right intention, it can offer you much more than the fulfillment of your desires, it can help you gain the supreme goal of life of realization of the entire universe within your own awareness!

‘TULSI’ - connotes ‘the incomparable one.’ It is an important symbol in the Hindu religious tradition. The botanical name being ‘Ocimum sanctum’ belongs to the family of Labiatae. The classical name, basilicum, from which "basil" is derived, means "royal or princely." Hindus commonly know basil as Tulasi and Surasah in Sanskrit, and Tulsi in Hindi. Other commonly used names are Haripriya, dear to Vishnu, and Bhutagni, destroyer of demons. The Tamil name for this plant is ‘thulasi’ and in English it is known as ‘Holy Basil.’ Tulsi grows wild in the tropics and warm regions. Dark or Shyama tulsi and light or Rama tulsi are the two main varieties of basil, the former possessing greater medicinal value. Of the many varieties, the Krishna or Shyama tulsi is commonly used for worship.
Basil and religion have a rich and long history together. The Hindus have been growing and using basil in temples for around 3000 years. The Rig Veda, probably written in 1500 BC, mentions the holy basil. The Puranas celebrate it for its holiness. Highly regarded in Ayurvedic's system of medicine, it is noted in medical texts like Charaka Samhita, which was written somewhere between 200 BC and 200 AD. Basil, in South Asia, is tied to folklore and myth. It is said to represent Vishnupriya or Beloved of Vishnu, the embodiment of the goddess Lakshmi. It has been cultivated from ancient times throughout India. It is linked closely with the spiritual world. No Hindu household is without it and a ‘tulasi madam’ , a specially built structure, which has images of deities installed on all four sides, and an alcove for a small earthen oil lamp. Often some households can even have up to a dozen tulsi plants on the verandah or in the garden forming a "tulsi-van" or "tulsivrindavan" - a miniature basil forest.
The Tulsi is the most sacred of all plants. It is associated with many Hindu Gods and Goddesses. It is a very important symbol in Hindu religious traditions. In Sanskrit, tulanaa naasti athaiva tulasi - that which is incomparable (in its qualities) is the tulasi. In fact it is known to be the only thing used in worship, which, once used, can be washed and reused in pooja - as it is regarded so self-purifying.
It is worshiped in the morning and evening. It grows wild in the tropics. The two main varieties of basil are, Shyama or dark tulsi, and Rama or light tulsi. The Krishna or Shyama tulsi is the type more commonly used in worship, and is thought to hold more medicinal value. Tulsi can be found today growing in great quantities around Hindu temples. It comes in both green and red varieties and appears more clove like than the ordinary basil that has long been used in cooking. Today, Holy Basil is used to treat a wide variety of medical conditions. Some of these include fevers, colds, sore throats, kidney stones, insect bites, and headaches. Tulsi is also considered to be very useful in the reducing of stress related disorders.
Tusli, along with all other species of basil, possesses remarkable physical and spiritually healing properties. Aside from its religious merits, Tulsi has been praised in Indian scriptures and lore since the time of the early Vedas as an herb that cures blood and skin disease and arthritis, a preventative for mosquito and insect bites, and a purifier of polluted air. Tulsi is used as medicinal teas and poultices. Tulsi’s widespread contemporary use in India as an aid to internal and external organs suggests these traditions are based upon practical efficacy. “one finds descriptions of basil’s health benefits in any of the books on herbs and ayurveda readily available today.
Tulsi is also extensively used to maintain ritual purity, to purity if polluted and to ward off evil. A leaf if kept in the mouth of the dying to insure passage to heavenly realms. During an eclipse, leaves are ingested and also placed in cooked food and stored water to ward off psychic pollution. Funeral pyres often contain tulsi wood to protect the spirit of the dead—as Bhutagni, destroyer of demons, tulsi leaves and sprigs are hung in the entryways of homes to keep away troublesome spirits, and the mere presence of the Tulsi shrine is said to keep the entire home pure, peaceful and harmonious.
DIVINITY IN TULSI: Basil or tulsi became a symbol of love, eternal life, purification, and protection in India. It is regarded not merely as a mere utilitarian God-send, as most sacred plant are viewed to be, but as an incarnation of Goddess herself. Thus when one bows before tulsi, one bows to the goddess herself. Of course, denominations differ in their approach. Generally worshippers of Vishnu will envision Tulsi as Lakshi or Vrinda; devotees of Rama view Tulsi as Sita; while Krishna bhaktas revere Her as Vrinda, Radha or Rkumani.
TULASI SYMBOLISES:
1) Kalyani – Normally poisonous snakes and mosquitos do not come close to it due to some smell that it emits, That explains why it is a must in every house. The leaves as well roots are a cure for several diseases like malaria, cold, fever. The wood of this plant is used for Mala, ie a rosary for worhip of Lord Vishnu and when worn in the neck it prevents diseases of the throat.
2) Visnu Priye – Tulsi has been described as the beloved of Lord Visgnu since he is the creator and Tulsi helps the health of human beings and animals, prevent soil erosion.
3) @[516819943:2048:Mo Moshiri]ksa – prade – By keeping the body healthy, it keeps the mind healthy and free of worries enabling us to concentrate on worship of the Ultimate Reality in comfort.
PURANAS: A plethora of Puranic Legends and village stories relate how Tulsi came to grow and be worshiped on Earth. The classic Hindu myth, Samudramathana, the “Churning of the Cosmic Ocean,” explains that Vishnu spawned Tulsi from the turbulent seas as a vital aid for all mankind. More common are legends that describe how the Goddess Herself came to reside on Earth as Tulsi. A complex legend in Orissa views the plant as the fourth incarnation in the Goddess who appeared as Tulsi at the beginning of our present age, the Kali yuga. The tale continues with intrigue and deception among the Gods, typical of the Puranic Stories, culminating in Vishnu’s transforming the Goddess Tulsi into a basil bush to be worshiped morning and evening by men and women in every household in the world.
Impressed by her devotion and adherence to righteousness, Tulasi the wife of a celestial being was blessed by Lord Krishna that she would be worshipped by all, offerings would be incomplete without the offering of Tulasi. Those who wish a righteous life also worship Tulasi.
She also symbolises Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu. Tulasi is married to the Lord in a ceremony flushed with pomp and ceremony. This is because according to another legend, the Lord blessed her to be His consort. Satyabhama once weighed Lord Krishna against all her legendary wealth. The scales did not balance till Rukmini placed a single tulasi leaf along with the wealth on the scale with devotion. Thus the tulasi played the vital role of demonstrating to the world that even a small object offered with devotion means more to the Lord than all the wealth in the world. “I bow down to the tulasi, at whose base are all the holy places, at whose top reside all the deities and in whose middle are all the Vedas”.

SKANDAPURANA
"Every home with a Tulasi plant is a place of pilgrimage, and no diseases, messengers of Yama, the God of Death, can enter it." Glories of the thulasi is seen in this mantra:
SHRI TULASI PRADAKSINA MANTRA
yani kani ca papani

As more and more people take to alternative medicine, ayurveda and naturopathy clinics in the state seem to be growing rapidly. This could be gauged from the fact that such clinics and hospitals in cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat have seen their footfalls doubling in the last two years.

|| The Mantric Approach of the Vedas ||
:: The Vedas as Mantra Yoga ::
The Vedas are mantric teachings. They consist of various mantric chants or hymns cognized by different seers or Rishis from the Cosmic Mind. They set forth Dharma or natural law, which is mantra in manifestation. As such the Vedas are impersonal and eternal, just as cosmic law cannot vary. This same mantric knowledge gives rise to different sciences (vidyas) according to the angle of vision with which we approach it. Ayurveda, Vedic Astrology, Yoga, and Vedanta all arise from it and represent different ways of looking through it.
The Vedic language is based upon an earlier more primordial language of seed (bija) mantras. These are single syllable sounds or roots like OM that have multiple meanings and indications depending upon their intonation and the intention with which they are used. Out of the bija or root language arises the language of the Vedic texts, which is already differentiated, though not fully, into nouns and verbs. These bijas are explained more in Tantra, which in its true sense (apart from current popular distortions) is also a science of the Divine Word.
To introduce the reader to the Vedic mantric approach we will introduce a few important bija mantras and then the main Vedic chant, the Gayatri mantra, of twenty four syllables. This will also help the reader understand the vision behind the American Institute of Vedic Studies, why it takes the name Vedic studies, and why it combines various Vedic disciplines. It is all a manifestation of the mantra. It is that mantric knowledge that we are directing our students toward, not to any mere book learning, nor reliance on the word of another. That inner mantra of the heart which comprehends all is the goal of our work.
Five Main Bija Mantras
OM
OM is the most important of all mantras. All mantras generally begin and often also end with OM. However, there is much confusion about OM. OM is the mantra of assent. It means yes and affirms and energizes whatever we say after it. That is why all mantras begin with OM. OM is also the mantra of ascent and causes our energy to rise upward into the infinite. OM is expansive and increases the fire, air and ether elements, particularly ether. It also gives strength, protection and grace. It connects us with the guidance power of the inner Guru.
The Four Great Goddess Mantras
There are four great Goddess mantras that govern the prime forms of energy as magnetic force, electrical force, heat, and delight. This is a Tantric teaching that reflects the Vedic Word and the four main Vedic deities.
HRIM
HRIM (pronounced Hreem) is the prime mantra of the Great Goddess and ruler of the worlds and holds all her creative and healing powers. HRIM governs over the cosmic magnetic energy and the power of the soul and causal body. It awakens us at a soul or heart level, connecting us to Divine forces of love and attraction. HRIM is the mantra of the Divine Maya that destroys the worldly maya. It has a solar quality to it but more of a dawn-like effect. It is charming and alluring, yet purifying . Through it we can control the illusion power of our own minds.
In Vedic terms HRIM is a mantra of the Sun, particularly in terms of illumination. It increases our aspiration and receptivity to Divine light, wisdom and truth. It opens the lotus of the heart to the inner Sun of consciousness. It is a mantra of the region of heaven or the consciousness space in which all the worlds exist.
KRIM
KRIM (pronounced Kreem) is the great mantra of Kali, the Goddess of energy and transformation. It governs over prana as lightning or electrical energy. KRIM grants all spiritual faculties and powers — from the arousing of kundalini to opening the third eye. It has a special power relative to the lower chakras, which it can both stimulate and transform. It helps awaken and purify the subtle body. As a mantra of work and transformation KRIM is the mantra of Kriya Yoga, the Yoga of practice. It is the main mantra of the Yoga Shakti. As it is a strong mantra it should be used with care.
KRIM is a mantra of Indra, the supreme deity of the Vedas, the Divine as the cosmic lord and enlightenment force. KRIM is the thunderbolt or vajra that destroys the serpent of the ignorance and releases the light of absolute truth. It represents the force of the atmosphere (Atmic sphere) and carries the supreme life force.
HUM
HUM (pronounced Hoom) is a mantra of the inner fire or thermogenic force. It both calls the divine down into us and offers our soul upward to the Divine for transformation in the sacred fire of awareness. It is a Shiva mantra but also a mantra of Chandi, the fierce form of Kali. It is used to destroy negativity and creates great passion and vitality. As a powerful mantra it should also be used carefully. Yet it can be used in a more gentle manner to invoke divine grace and protection. Through it we can offer ourselves or our afflictions into the Divine for purification and transformation.
HUM is a Vedic mantra of Agni or fire. It is the mantra used to make offerings into the sacred fire. It also is used to call or invoke the fire and to make it flame up more brilliantly. It represents the soul hidden the body, the Divine immanent in the world. It governs the earth and the material sphere in general.
SHRIM
SHRIM (pronounced Shreem) is a mantra of love, devotion and beauty, relating to Lakshmi, the Goddess of Beauty and divine grace. Yet SHRIM works at a deeper level than merely to give us the good things of life, including health. It takes us to the heart and gives faith and steadiness to our emotional nature. SHRIM allows us to surrender to, take refuge in, or be immersed in whatever we offer the mantra to. It is the mantra of beauty and delight and has a pleasing lunar quality. It also relates to the head and can be used to flood the senses with divine beauty and delight. It promotes health and aids in fertility and rejuvenation.
In Vedic terms SHRIM is a Soma mantra. It gives love, joy, bliss, beauty and delight. It has the light of the Moon and governs the mind and the realm between the atmosphere and heaven. It purifies and integrates the various aspects of our nature and renders them into ambrosia.
These four mantras can be used together with OM:
OM HRIM KRIM HUM SHRIM!
This brings about an integral development of body, mind and soul in harmony with the Divine or inner Self.
The Gayatri Mantra, the Essence of the Vedas
This great mantra consists of three parts. The first is the chants to the seven worlds. The second is the mantra proper of twenty-four syllables. The third is a summary of the mantra's energies. The following is a brief explanation of the mantra as presented in the Mahanarayana Upanishad.
The Head of the Gayatri
OM Bhuh!- the physical realm or earth, realm of being or food
OM Bhuvah! - the vital plane or atmosphere, realm of becoming or breath
OM Suvah! - the mental plane, space or heaven, realm of illumination
OM Mahah! - the sphere of cosmic mind, realm of Dharma
OM Janah! - the realm of creation or bliss
OM Tapah! - the realm of consciousness-force
OM Satyam! - the realm of absolute truth
The Body of the Mantra
OM
Tat - That
Savitur - Of Savitar, the solar Creator
Varenyam - Supreme
Bhargo - Effulgence
Devasya - Of the God
Dhimahi - We meditate
Dhiyo - Intelligences, minds
Yo - Who
Nah - Our
Prachodayat - May direct
"We meditate upon the supreme effulgence of the Divine Solar Creator that he may direct our minds."
The Tail of the Gayatri
OM
Apo - the Cosmic Waters
Jyoti - the Cosmic Light
Rasomritam - the Immortal Essence
Brahma - the Absolute
Bhur - the physical
Bhuvas - the atmospheric
Suvar - the realm of space
OM - the four higher realms
"OM, the waters, the light, the immortal essence, Brahman, earth, atmosphere, heaven, OM."
The Gayatri mantra (Rig Veda III.62.10) is perhaps the greatest Vedic mantric chant. It was first cognized by the Rishi Vishwamitra, who himself is a form of the Sun that is the friend (Mitra) of all (Vishwa). Rishi Vishwamitra is the embodiment of tapas or ascetic force and his mantra carries that power of light, energy and transformation. Through it one can be born again (dwija) or twice born in truth, in the heavenly stream of Divine wisdom.
The mantra is chanted at sunrise, noon and sunset. At dawn it is called Gayatri, the youthful form of the Goddess, consort of Lord Brahma, the creator. It is called Savitri, the mature form, at noon, the consort of Lord Shiva. It is called Sarasvati, the elderly form, at sunset, the consort of Lord Vishnu.
The Supreme Self, Paramatman, or Savitar, is the conscious being within the cosmic sun or Light of lights. The mantra is his creative force, the Divine Word. Savitar is the master of all transformations and the director of all higher evolution. He is the Self of Brahman, the pure being of the Absolute.
Harnessing the Power of the Inner Sun
This mantra releases the supreme solar power, the power of the inner sun of Self-realization and cosmic creation. Those wishing to bring about a new creation or new dawn for humanity of this dark age, should chant this mantra. Those wishing to transcend this world of Samsara can also use the mantra as a stairway to the infinite. This mantra also grants intelligence, creative vision and healing powers.
Used with the chants to the seven worlds it unfolds all the secrets of the universe outwardly and inwardly.
The Gayatri mantra is central to Yoga, Vedanta, Ayurveda and Vedic astrology. For Yoga it sets in motion the Divine will toward transformation, stimulating the Kundalini force. For Vedanta it grants Self-knowledge, knowledge of the solar Self. For Ayurveda it gives the power of the cosmic prana that is born of the sun. For Jyotish it gives knowledge of the movements of the heavenly bodies ruled by the cosmic sun.
NOTE: the exact pronunciation and intonation of the mantra requires personal instructions and a proper initiation and guidance of an able GuRU / Master. This mantra is not something to be merely toyed with but requires entering into the stream of transmission of Vedic knowledge.

Jai Hind !

As per Lele, molec-ular pharmacology provides a new interface between ayurveda and modern medicines.
The health benefits of karela (bitter-gourd) are greater than those of many vegetables. Karela's bitter taste is generally attributed to the quinine it contains. Cooked bitter gourd stimulates the appetite, cleanses the liver, purifies the blood, and provides many other benefits.
Grown in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Asia, Africa, and South America, karela (aka bitter-melon, kaakarakaya) is unsavory yet very nutritious and healthy. Karela comes in many different varieties and is similar in shape to a cucumber. In the Indian grocery stores in the US, you'll find the the Indian, dark green, spiky variety, while in the Asian stores, you'll find the lighter-green bitter-melons that are larger with a bumpy peel.
A really delicious type of karela is kantola or kakrol (aa-kaakarakaya). These are small, round or oval with tiny, prickly spikes, and are not bitter at all or only slightly bitter. These taste great sliced into thin chips and either stir-fried or deep-fried. Fresh kantola are a rare sight in the US but are widely available frozen.
In South India, karela and kantola, are soaked overnight in brine or buttermilk and sundried, and then deep-fried as needed, and like pappadums, served as crunchy accompaniments or added to soups and stews. These vadiyams or vadams are available in Indian grocery stores.
Karela and Health----Quick Facts
In Indian medicine, such as ayurveda, bitter-gourd juice (from the gourd or leaves) has long been used as a remedy for diabetes and liver problems. Karela juice is also used to treat skin problems like psoriasis, and is generally good for skin health as it purifies blood.
Ayurvedic doctors also prescribe bitter-gourd juice for digestive problems and to boost immunity. A glass of karela juice with a dash of lemon, taken on an empty tummy, is supposed to improve general health as well as skin health.
Karela contains a chemical called charantin which reduces high blood glucose levels, and hence the best home remedy for diabetes (as a curry or juice).
Pregnant women are advised to avoid this vegetable as it can cause miscarriages.
Along with fiber, karela contains several vitamins, minerals, and trace elements like vitamin C, iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, and phosphorus. Like most vegetables, karela is low in calories, and as such great for weight-loss. Studies show that bitter-melon extract can help prevent breast cancer.
It makes sense to include karela in your diet as it offers so many health benefits.

Asthma : Tulsi is very beneficial in Asthma as it relieves congestion and facilitates breathing. The Phytonutrients and the essential oils, with help from other minerals in it, helps cure the causes of asthma also.
Lung Disorders : The compounds like vitamin-C, Camphene, Eugenol and Cineole present in the essential oils of Tulsi do not only cure the infections in lungs but also cure congestion of the lungs. They are also found effective in healing damages caused to the lungs due to smoking, tuberculosis, lung cancer etc
Heart Diseases: The Holy Basil contains vitamin-C and other anti oxidants such as Eugenol which protect the heart from harmful effects of free radicals. In addition, Eugenol, a component in its essential oils, is very beneficial in reducing cholesterol from blood.
Stress : Vitamin-C and other anti oxidants in Holy Basil, apart from repairing damages done by the free radicals, also minimize the stress induced by these oxidants. They soothe nerves, lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation and thus reduce stress. One such component is Camphene. Potassium also reduces blood pressure related stress by replacing sodium.
Oral Care : Tulsi is an excellent mouth freshener and oral disinfectant and its freshness lasts very long in the mouth. Holy Basil destroys more than 99 percent of the germs and bacteria in the mouth and this effect lasts long. It also cures ulcer in the mouth. It is also known to help inhibit growth of oral cancer caused by chewing tobacco etc.
Kidney Stones : Tulsi, being detoxifier and mild diuretic in nature, help reduce uric acid level (main culprit as far as kidney stones are concerned) concentration in the blood as well as helps cleaning of the kidneys through urination. Acetic acid and certain components in its essential oils also facilitate dissolution of the stone. It also has pain-killer effects and help bear the pain from kidney stones.
Skin Care : A daily bath with decoction of Holy Basil mixed with your bathing water, or washing your face with it or simply applying the paste of its leaves on infected area of the skin in case of skin diseases or simply consuming Tulsi leaves, keeps your skin free from all infections. You won’t believe this but rubbing basil leaves or oil extracted from it on the body keeps mosquitoes and other insects away.
Headache : Headaches caused due to migraine, sinus, cough and cold, high blood pressure etc. can be effectively controlled by the use of a single Tulsi. Camphene, Eugenol, Cineol, Carvacrol and Methyl-Chavicol have excellent analgesic, sedative, anti congestive and disinfectant properties.
Anti Ageing : Vitamin-C, A, Phytonutrients and the essential oils in it are excellent anti oxidants and protects the body from nearly all the damages caused by the free radicals. In traditional Indian medicine system called Ayurveda, it is considered as a tonic to retain youth and avoid aging.
Immunity : Holy Basil is so good for boosting up the immune system that cannot be explained in words. It protects from nearly all sorts of infections from viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoa. Recent studies show that it is also helpful in inhibiting growth HIV and carcinogenic cells.

Are you suffering from Sinusitis(पीनस - Ozaena) ... Do you know when trouble hits those “holes” in your head.... what happens...!!
Sinusitis refers to inflammation of the sinuses that occurs with a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection. Symptoms: The classic symptoms of acute sinusitis in adults usually follow a cold that does not improve. In Ayurveda it means that kapha is vitiated in most of the cases.
The paranasal sinuses are the air-filled spaces in the bones of the skull that open into the nose. One pair lies in the cheeks and another in the forehead. There are also a variable number of sinuses between the eyes and the nose. Sinusitis is the infection of these spaces.
Sinusitis may be a short illness (acute sinusitis) or a condition that continues for months or years (chronic sinusitis). Chronic sinusitis is relatively uncommon nowadays. Acute sinusitis comes on following a cold. If acute sinusitis fails to clear up completely, it may develop into chronic sinusitis.
Signs and Symptoms:
Recurrent common cold is the first stage of these disease followed by -
* Excessive or constant sneezing
* Cough, often worse at night
* Running Nose.
* Blockage of Nostrils.
* Bad breath or loss of smell
* Headache usually felt in forehead and just below the eyes... pressure-like
pain, pain behind the eyes, toothache, or facial tenderness
* Low-grade fever.
* Lack of appetite.
* Difficulty in breathing.
* Sore throat and postnasal drip
* Heaviness in the Head
* Fatigue and generally not feeling well
Symptoms of Sinusitis in children include:
* Cold or respiratory illness that has been improving and then begins to get
worse
* High fever, along with a darkened nasal discharge, for at least 3 days
* Nasal discharge, with or without a cough, that has been present for more than
10 days and is not improving.
Simple treatment-

2. Take 3-4 Gms. of Powder of equal parts of Trikatu (Equal quantities of Sunthi- Dried ginger, Maricha-Black pepper and Pippali-Piper longum) churan, root bark of Chitraka (Leadwort-Plumbago zeylanica), leaves of Talisa patra (Himalayan silver fir) and Tejpatra (Cinnamomum tamala), fruit of Chincha (Tamarind), Jiraka (Cumin), Ela (Cardamom), Amlavetasa (Rheum emodi), Chavya (Piper chaba) and Twak (Dalchini-Cinnamomum bark) in equal quantities, with Guda (Jaggery)- 5 Gms. 'THE PURE KNOWLEDGE "
"This is where the JOURNEY of Social Conduct & Spirituality begins."
"This is the Basis of Social Conduct & Spirituality."
"Someone asked Swami Vivekanandaji how large God is .?
"His answer was,"He is as big as the devotee or aspirant"
"For some people God is mountain,a tree or a river.with the development of the psyche, the image of god also develops."
"At first a temple is god's abode.Slowly one progresses to believe in his Omnipresence. At first the way to attain God is a special mantra. But this belief keeps on changing with the development of the mana(mind) & Chitta(mind stuff, psyche)."
"Hence a true individual beings, aspirant does not try to change anyone else's belief.Otherwise the natural faith of that person might be destroyed, when he
could not accept any higher faith due to the limitations of his state of mind."
"The the person would not be at home anywhere. On the contrary,an aspirants tries
to further support and strengthen the faith of the person, and when he develops his faith he will automatically change."
"The perspective of a human, aspirant, sadhak or individual being of universe is totally different from that of the world. He seeks social conduct & spiritual welfare for the world and for himself."
He does not hesitate if he has to stop and wait for a while for the good of others to manifest. He does not assault anyone's sentiments. He does not hurt anyone's ego. This is true for the imagined God as well.He does not play with anybody's faith. He does not repudiate their belief,he helps."
"Debates about god are meaningless.principles have been established according to the experiences of the spiritual masters. On the basis of those principles
many different views have developed and followers of these tradition have begun to dispute."
God must be wondering,!
"what kind of a living being i created."!
" On the basis of imagination they are ready to cut each other's throats without any experience they are swinging stick in the dark.A wise & thoughtful human being does not get involved in any argument. He understands that these differences are due to different perspective and experiences.Otherwise nobody can bind god in any definition, description or explanation."
'For example,if you goto a temple in northIndia, the costumes of lord Krishna & Radha will be in a north Indian style. If you go to Maharashtra,it will be in Maharashtrian. At a place where I (Shivom Tirthji) I stayed, the heat of the household was devoted to rituals. He felt like smoking a hukka ( an Indian pipe bar smoking tobacco)."
"He prepared a small hukka and kept it infront of the idol of God.After that he prepared his own hukka and started to smoke. When i asked him why, he said,
"if i smoke a hukka why should not my God."
"It is human nature to try to imagine things are beyond one's reach.A human writes articles and get involved in arguments about subjects that are beyond his
intellect. He knows that his mind and senses cannot reach the god,yet he makes temples and places of pilgrimage to try to reach him."
"Human beings have an attachment for the body on the one hand, and, on the other, try to attain God."
Shiva & Shakti the Ananta, all automatic actions (creation, execution, destroy, etc.) engaged in the Parmeshwari or Power is Parvati. Every human being should be chanta this Mantra with their own feeling, emotion & FAITH and to destroy their accumulated Prarbdha, the following every day at the appointed time.

Q: Guruji, the season is changing once again. Can you please tell us the importance of ‘Ahar Vihar’, food and lifestyle to be maintained with every season. How does it impact us?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Ancient people have done a lot of research on that. Also the modern nutritionists have done quite a bit of research, and if you go and Google, you find a lot of things on what to eat in this season. Today all knowledge is available on the fingertips, correct!
According to Ayurveda there are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha seasons. Now when the summer comes, it is the Pitta that will go high, so you have to take things which calms the Pitta.
Nature is such that it produces only those things which are good for that season. Like in winter pumpkins and gooseberries grow. These are necessary for winter and in summer, they cut watermelons and sugarcanes and make sugarcane juice. This is the season of watermelon. Watermelon never comes in winter and they would not grow watermelon in winter. Watermelon comes up only in this season, now.
So the fruits, vegetables and everything, nature has done it in such a way to suit us according to the time and season. But now, we have gone so far away from nature and our body has also gotten adjusted to that. Otherwise when you are in a climate where bananas, papayas and mangoes grow, there apples do not grow. But now we eat apples also here. We bring apple from other regions. Where apples are grown, bananas don’t grow there in the same climate. Pears, apples, peaches, berries, strawberries and cherries, they all grow in one climate. Is it not?
But you will see people in those climates eat papaya and bananas, which don’t grow there.
That is the ideal thing, but you do not need to worry about it because now your body is used to apple, pineapple and everything, but in one meal see to that you take only those things together. Suppose you are taking bananas, papaya, chikoo and coconut, they all go together. They are tropical fruits. Then at another time you can eat apples, pears, cherries and as such.
